Chalissery Palli Perunnal
Day 1 · Fri, 20 November 2026
The annual schedule of the Chalissery Valiya Perunnal at the St. Peter's and St. Paul's Syrian Orthodox Church splits the core devotional and public rituals across two main festival days.
The first official day of the Valiya Perunnal focuses on high spiritual preparation and traditional public displays. The day begins with special Holy Mass (Holy Qurbana) and intercessory prayers at the Valiya Pally. The primary highlight of the evening is the grand evening procession (Vespers / Kazhnu Rasa). The streets surrounding Chalissery junction are illuminated, and traditional church bands accompany the beautifully decorated relics, crosses, and Muthukuda (ornamental silk umbrellas) through the town, concluding with night vigil prayers and community blessings.Day 2 · Sat, 21 November 2026
This is the main feast day (Thirunnal). The morning features the solemn Solemn Holy Trinity Qurbana (Mooninmel Kurbana), followed by special devotional messages and Nercha (feast offerings) distribution. In the afternoon and evening, the main festive procession winds through Chalissery, drawing thousands of devotees and spectators. The entire town transforms with carnival stalls, vibrant musical ensembles, and cultural art forms, culminating in a massive, spectacular display of fireworks late at night to officially close the Perunnal.
