Arattupuzha Pooram is considered one of India's oldest and most prestigious temple festivals, often called the "Mother of all Poorams.". The festival is famous for its all-night Devamela (gathering of the gods), meaning the most spectacular sights happen from the evening deep into the early morning of the next day.
7:00 PM : The host deity, Arattupuzha Sastha, descends from the temple to the paddy fields accompanied by caparisoned elephants and the rhythmic beats of Panchari Melam.
11:00 PM to 1:00 AM : Deities from neighboring temples (such as Chathakudam Sastha, Thottippal Bhagavathy, and several others) begin to arrive in their own majestic processions, complete with traditional torches (Theevatti) and intense percussion performances.
12:00 Midnight to 3:00 AM: The energy peaks as the divine assembly gathers. The arrival of the presiding deity of the gathering, Triprayar Thevar, is a major highlight, usually marked by a grand Panchavadyam.
