The Thazhekkad Perunnal at the St. Sebastian Major Archiepiscopal Pilgrim Shrine is a major spiritual and cultural event in Thrissur.
Ambu Perunnal: A vibrant street procession where devotees carry decorated "arrows" (Ambu) to the church, accompanied by traditional drumming (Melam) and fireworks.
Mudiattam: A traditional ritual dance performed by devotees as an offering.
Religious Harmony: The feast is unique because it attracts people of all faiths who come to seek the blessings of Kurishumuthappan.
Historical Significance: You can visit the church to see the "Thazhekkad Sasanam," a historic granite inscription that documents the privileges granted to Christian traders by Chera kings.
